Over the years dental infections have been associated with numerous chronic and systemic health problems, like cancer, autoimmune disorders, fibromyalgia and cardiovascular disease.

Many don’t realise that each of your teeth is alive, a living organism. If you experienced any kind of toothache in the past, you can tell how alive a tooth can be. The opposite is the case when decay has gone too far, or the tooth has been badly broken. Then the tooth is often free of pain, which means the tooth is dead.

In this situation, a dentist might recommend to “save” the tooth with a root canal treatment and leave the dead tooth in your mouth. However, this procedure has downsides, such as a risk of underlying infection.

In my latest videocast, I am explaining the typical warning signs of a root canal infection, and also what you can do about it.

Episode #10 at-a-glance:
0:35 What is a root canal infection?
7:25 Root canal infection – Warning signs you should be aware of.
9:40 Infected root canal and what to do about it.
14:00 When do you need to remove a tooth.
15:30 Possible options when it comes to replacing a missing tooth.
